I find that question somewhat confusing. I know it's a valid question but when you talk to someone who may potentially become your (play) partner I don't really know what to say. It's not something that I would see myself as per se but of course discipline and pain adds a nice flavour to a scene but being a sadist is never a driving force of mine. One thing I do know though, I'm personally more sadist than masochist. You also need to think why the other person is asking such a question. Have they had a bad experience with pain? Do they crave pain? Does it scare them etc?

I think that it shouldn't be about "just painful things". For me it's more about the mixture, about the variety and the possibilities. Most Doms have a sadistic streak, but pain is not a neccessary part of a D/s-relationship. B Everything in the world is about sex, except sex, sex is about power. - Oscar Wilde

It depends on what you call 'being a sadist'... To me it means the other person gets good feelings when administer pain, to that person who craves it..... That is being a sadist, in the bdsm way... style.... Pure sadism is not a healty aspect of someones character, that is without consent... abuse behaviour can be pure sadistic behaviour... it is always an interaction between the sub and dom. If you do not have those cravings, you will never make a masochist happy, because they crave pain.... as a way to get deeper into their submission? their surrender...?
