Stalking pray

The second I walk out the door, he's there. Making his way toward me each and every time.

A tilt of his head, watching me from the corner of his eye. His movements light, subtle, sure. A graceful ballet across time and space he comes to me without fail.

I stare out the front window watching to see if anyone else passing by can capture his fancy the way I do.

Apparently not.

I am enchanted. A lightness fills my heart that I am so captivating and captivated.

Pray tell, am I his prey?

Nope.

Still....a prayer is a prayer and I can never turn them away.

Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.
At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached.
May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black

Even though you photographed him, he stills thinks he was stealth. I say him because men are like that.

Yeah, they're great like that, aren't they, those dang dudes? All that 'look at me' furtiveness fuels an endearing consistent warmth of familiarity.

More of a nibble commune, I'm thinking.

Am I the only one who thinks the tribble episode was dude smackdown entertainment from someone making fun of Shatners hair.... being....its ...own,................. animal?

I'm surprised nobody has alluded to mantises mating habits. According to Wikipedia "Around 90% of the predatory species of mantises participate in sexual cannibalism". Of course it's the female who eats the male. Sometimes she rips his head off before they mate. Being a male in an aroused state he would probably not notice any change. Anyway, it's all in good fun. Apparently he can't come unless she does this little service for him. Some humans are a bit like that as well.
40 years of thinking about the reality of that critters sex life(?) I'm still excited and horrified in equal measure

I do miss some bug posts, it's true.

Oh no! If what you replied is correct, I may have sealed the fate of a much smaller one that was crawling around my hallway. I've no idea how he got in, I figured he just clung to a passerbys clothes or something, so I scooped him up and carried him back outside and plopped him on a lower branch away from birds and the big bossy one, cuz his spine or whatever seemed to be snapped. He kept falling off my finger and his back legs didn't work at all. I figured I was helping a fella out by taking him back outside where he could eat and heal up, but damn, I probably just ended up delivering him into evil clutches.

Brownish melted cotton candy....i can hardly wait even though it's kinda gross sounding, I'll be looking for it now that I know! Thank you!

They are fascinating. When I was young, we called them "walking sticks", not knowing the correct name. Saw them when we picked wild raspberries.

I have a friend that calls them stick bugs as well. I'm not sure if it's a regional thing or what, as I've never seen em called that before. To me, stick bugs are those brown tropical bugs that do look just like twigs.

They are fascinating as well.

But nowhere near as awesome as raspberries!!!!!
