I think in every job you have to do things you don't like but you get to do what you love - most of the time. Hope you get to finish the beautiful women dancing painting. This one is mesmerising too x

Anytime art and commerce collide, the artist becomes a whore. I don't care who you are. In fact, anytime anything is done solely for the sake of a paycheck, the person doing it is a whore to one degree or another. We all long for our creature comforts, and often the only way to obtain them is to sell out, at least a little bit. You have lots of company, if that's any consolation.

But seeing the soul and passion in your preferred works (the painting you posted above is simply breathtaking), I can see where a big ol' Pomeranian face can be disheartening. Hang in there.

You put on your "big girl" pants and accepted those things you could not change. No matter how you look at it the customer is always right.

Now, to that painting.......it is absolutely exquisite ! You had your Mistress attire on when you painted that, yep.

You are 47. Baring catastrophe you have 13 years - perhaps more, perhaps less - before the edge begins to dull on the fine motor skills required to do the exquisite detail work. That won't stop you of course, but it will make it harder: what was instinctive will become a battle of will between the eye, the brain and the not quite so steady hand. The brushes will feel , the arm will become leaden, your feet and back will ache earlier each day.

You have a gift, and you have that gift in sufficient quantity to be immortal if you choose. But how you use that 13 years is entirely up to you.

( I avoided this post a bit. I wanted to be all warm and fuzzy and explain how we all of us are whores in the name of pragmatism. But I chose instead to be honest with you. There ain't a lot of people in this place that get total unfiltered honesty from me but you... I'd not feel comfortable giving you any less then the unvarnished truth here)
