This is awesome!

I am an older white man, and I did comment on a previous painting. But it was just saying what I felt and how I reacted to it. I could not possibly teach you anything (on this subject) and I have zero talent in that area other than enjoying the work of people. Really sorry if I caused offence, definitely not the intention, I thought it was a lovely work with (to my eyes only) a small thing I felt didn't quite work but that is only my opinion of how it felt to me of course which is worth no more than anyone else's (and quite possibly less than many).

Nothing is as fragile as the male ego. It is a tool of survival.
Unsolicited, that's the key.
I could be wrong about the male ego being the most fragile personality trait.
It could be the artist's level of self-assurance.
Still, unsolicited derogatory comments are seldom wanted by anyone.
Your work is amazing; so much talent. Don’t let the self-appointed critics get to you.

I've been "man-splained" to repeatedly, since I'm just a 5' cupie doll that must need a man.

It has happened throughout my life in just about every area, running my uncle's archery shop was one of the worst. Although, in recent years I've had other flogger makers and chainmaillers (old white guys) try to tell me which materials to use how to make my implements better (more like theirs). I generally smile and nod and ignore their massive ego motivated douche-baggery.

Yes, it is the whole unsolicited thing that is the worst. Really, art is in the eye of the beholder and all that jazz... Obviously your method works for you and his him, but to *offer* without solicitation, not cool.

It is not like you included something like, "this isn't looking right or working for me, what do you all think?" Perhaps he needed to feel important the other day and that he is helping a young lady. Yep, some days no reaction or response is best. Even if your work is not to someone's taste, they cannot deny you have awesome talent.

I don't feel a particular need to comment on this post.

I've always enjoyed your paintings, at least the ones I've seen. This one is no exception.

I suppose I should be surprised by unsolicited comments but lately I have seen that too many times in other forums. It seems to exist all over.

Your paintings you share with us are just awesome but I also know I am far from an art guy. But art appreciation is in the eye of the beholder...or the pocket book.

Now just to demonstrate my point....some years ago I went to the Canadian Natinal Gallery....wondered into the gallery showcasing the "Voice of Fire" painting. They paid 1.8 million for this....and it is three large vertical stripes.... Large painting...but I couldn't believe it...first I went right up to it & noticed what appeared to be masking tape lines in the paint..... so I backed up for perspective (I mean I must be missing something right) so I backed up further, bumped into a bench & sat down & looked harder. "Excuse me sir" ...says a voice behind me... "please don't sit on the art"! (Yes the bench turned out to be a bronze cube I sat on)

So to top it off I understand today that painting is now worth in excess of 40 million... so no I am seriously not qualified to critique art.

Your paintings are always thought-provoking. I believe those who criticize have just a little bit of jealousy going on.

    Quoting DutchShadow:
one thing you find by all great talents. they appreciate good critics. And his right arm looks more like a piece of italien Ham to me.
How ironic. . . it's an old white guy with a virtually blank profile to match his brain. Condescension kind of looses all meaning with typos, or is that just my opinion?
