I'm sure you are beautiful and the reaction from others is quite genuine. I've been as bold. I work retail and on occasion have had a female customer who really just struck me and reacted with such a reaction, to just say, 'you are really pretty'... I am a New Yorker If you have tp on your shoe, lipstick ill-applied to your teeth, or tags left on clothes (those little plastic remnants) I'll tell you that too...I'm an equal opportunity reminder ― William Goldman, The Princess Bride

New York - I must visit again soon. Take solace in that New Yorkers who are normally reputed to be 'rude' and 'abrasive' - can also be particularly 'friendly' and 'bold'. At least in my experienced as a visiting canuck.. There are 'some' of us North of the 49th that are 'bold' enough to tell woman exactly that..

New York has always been a special place. It has its own take on things.
