The trouble with political jokes is that they often get elected. I think Brexit and Trump are not votes for anything, but rather a protest vote by ordinary people that feel disconnected from "leaders", the perpetual victims of austerity cuts, wage freezes, rising prices and declining services. They are votes of envy, votes for the greener grass on other hills. In themselves, they will only further harm the living standards of those that chose them. As a society, we need to find ways to share things more equitably. The big question is would Trump take a dildo up the arse from a domina - if we could find one willing to deal with the disgust, of course...

Obama hasn't been the "perfect" President, but he did a lot to prevent the US from experiencing its second Great Depression, and for that I thank him. He's also done a lot toward discouraging aspects in America that many continue to ignore: racism and "religious" extremism among them. People who votes for Donald Trump in protest of American politics have no idea what they've done, but they will in short order, I fear.

My contention since Trump announced his candidacy is he has only two reasons: feed his ego and enrich himself. Nothing to date alters that perception.

Obama has a very good approval rating but the rest of the facts are against him. The real number to consider is this: 1031. That is the net gain in Republicans in both state and federal government since Obama took office. Yes, people like Obama, as a nice guy, kind of cult figure. But, and it is a big but, the people are against his policies and where the country is headed. Millions of people who voted for Obama switched sides and voted for Trump this time around. Americans have voted against his policies over the last 6 years, to the tune of 1031 more Republican seats in government than when he took over.
