That must be a Sicilian dish. My father came from from northern Italy in Liguria, where they cook with lot of meat, and my mother's family is from the Naples area, where they make a lot of cheese dishes, but I've never seen or even heard of anything like that. That definitely looks like an artery clogger.
We always make a traditional ricotta pie for Easter, but ours is the sweet kind with sugar, orange and lemon. Hmmm, think I'll go cut a slice of that now.

we always called it "Easter Pie' ~ truly a labor of food love prepared by my mom. Life went from choco bunnies to this...One dish I wished I had taken the time to learn how to make proper..Ingredients are expensive to fuck it up...thanks for the memories
