wondering if there really is a war on christmas

I think we all heard about the dorky cups from starbucks....who really gives a fuck if they feature christmas trees or if the 18 yr old slacker employee says "merry christmas".
If your offended then don't go there.

Alot of people want to rally around this and make christians out to be victims etc.
And they want to use this as proof of a "war on christmas"..

Sure I get their anger when PC schools/businesses want to drop references of christmas and replace them with "happy holidays" or winter break etc.
Saying that they don't want to "offend" anyone ( funny for all those years they didn't have a problem offending people of the jewish faith)...seems like it is now a big deal because of the Muslims and blacks that celebrate Kawanzaa)..

Just saying..

But do these "christans" even celebrate "christmas" or are they merely observing a commercialized generic holiday. is the holiday really about religion for most people?

Point and case...your isn't waiting in line to sit on Jesus Christ's lap...what does lights/tinsel/reindeer etc have to do with the birth of Christ?

Alot of the "christmas traditions" are stolen straight out of pagan holidays..like the christmas tree. They were incorporated into the christmas celebration to influence the locals to join the christian faith.
Jesus Christ was born in the summer yet we celebrate christmas in the winter to go along with the pagan celebration of winter solstices.

SPOILER ALERT all Game of Thrones style...there is no "santa clause".( omg yeah right.. I know!)..
The man myth is a combo of various people...one of them a woman from russa
one being a bishop ( saint nicholas)... one being kris kringle ( the Christ from Germany... which isn't JESUS CHRIST.. the acts in a santa clause fashion)..etc

Chance are you/your don't see "santa clause" as some bishop that lived many moons ago....you don't see religious overtones in his dress or mannerism.. You see him as some creation from the coca cola corp in the 1920s.

We don't see santa clause ( sinter Klauss)..dutch for st nicholas..
as OMG JESUS CHRIST!..he isn't supposed to be... the birth of Jesus is separate from santa clause.

we see santa as a symbol of sacrifice and giving..

So which religion has dibs on that again?

How is this celebration merely Christian when "santa" is a combo of different figures from all parts of the world.
Our christmas traditions include ALOT of pagan symbols.

Most stores/shops don't even mention Jesus Christ.....so how is saying "merry christmas" ( especially during a season designed to get the consumer) into your shop to buy....offensive?

I think alot of PC companies go out of their way to poke their own customer base to show how progressive they are...
and in turn I think alot of the " billy oreily" types get bent out of shape..especially to further their own agenda..

Especially when their version of Christmas doesn't contain Jesus Christ.

So is there really a war on christmas?...especially if your version of christmas is just about flying reindeer/presents and some fat elf that can stop time and deliver all the packages in one night. ( which is from a freaking poem folks..)

Why do you care if your starbucks coffee cup has no christmas tree on it...that tree symbol isn't even christian!

My point is alot people don't celebrate the birth of christ with their christmas celebration....to alot of people "christmas" is very generic with lil religious overtones...

People need to just chill...christmas is sorta like easter...some people celebrate the resurrection of christ.. and others see it merely as chocolate rabbits and hard boiled eggs ( which is a rip off of the tradition of the pagans).
