In all the apartments I have rented, parking was a courtesy and often a battle. While some people usually picked a spot and stuck to it, all it takes is one person who is an opportunist or lacks understanding or a few extra cars, and it becomes chaos. When I lived in Brussels, it was literally every man, woman, and child for itself.

Where I live, each apartment has a numbered parking space (sadly not the same numbers as each apartment) so everyone has their own unique space.

Disputes only occur when someone new moves in, but notes under the wiper blade usually solve any problems and parking bliss is achieved.
