Death is a part of the process - and yes, I know that doesn't help.

Hopefully helpful bit - plan something, just for you. Downtime, uptime, whatever it is that helps you, and make the time to do it.

Say no to someone you'd normally say yes to, if that what it takes.

Think of you, only you, and go and do something you enjoy.

Watch people, make up silly stories about them, pet a dog, a cat, scream in the shower.

Release it if only for a moment.

I think any sane person at some point ponders their existence and purpose. Living in the moment, hard to teach, if at all.

I think my purpose in life is to do something to bring something good to others. Even if it is a smile or a bit of relief from the matters that are being a load on their shoulders.

Agreed life is not fair and it certainly is not understandable as we live on Earth. At some point the pondering of purpose is not so weighty and one does slip into living more for the moment.

I recall taking many a philosophy and religion course in university while seeking answers. Eventually, I cam to a conclusion no religion or philosopher had the answers; no matter how much they purported to know the answers.

What does the future hold, I have a concept of afterlife (not a conventional religious based concept). But, it could be afterlife is just molecules floating around the Universe, so best make the best of life now.

You know what your problem is? Don't you just hate it when someone starts a comment sanctimoniously like that. I don't mean it that way. I can very much relate to what you are saying, because I very often have many of the same feelings, so I guess I'm talking about our problem.

What I think you and I have in common is a propensity for over-analysis, over-thinking, and seeing our world through a more philosophical lens than the average person. Sometimes I really envy those who seem to be able to just skate along the surface of life's greater questions, never questioning, never torturing themselves with such weighty issues. But I don't envy them often...I loathe shallowness and find a degree of joy in searching for truths concerning the bigger questions...even if the search will ultimately be futile. In my experience, there is no universal purpose to life...but that doesn't make life meaningless. Recognizing this makes life mean more, in my humble opinion, because we, ourselves, get to define what it all means. And that can be a pretty amazing thing.

By the way, the Dickens quote is so approprate...best first paragraph to a novel ever.

Yes, Interstellar resonated deeply with me, too Viv.

And now...how has your outlook changed, elevated itself since you wrote this?
