That is so true. We love all animals and are owned by cats. They give us so much without asking for anything in return other than their food bowls filled, litter cleaned, and an occasional demand for scratch, which is lovingly given.

That dog with the vicious streak probably wasn't socialized . When they are 5 ,6 weeks old they need to meet, and get used to as many people as reasonably possible. If they are not, that window of opportunity has been lost forever.

When I was a youngster a friend of my father's had a son that was going away College had a beautiful pedigree German Shepherd. The dog's name was Rip Torn Kelley and was gifted to my family by my father's friends. I remember they cried when Rip Kelly left with us. He became my dog and was fiercely loyal to me. I remember getting in some sort of trouble up on the farm and the sheriff came over to talk with me. Rip barked so fiercely at the sheriff that he would not get out of the car. The sheriff said if the dog doesn't get under control he will shoot it. Well everything was set up for a Mexican standoff and the sheriff did the wise thing and spoke to me through the window and then left. I got away with another mischief.

Rip Torn love the open space of the farm in the Catskills. We had a freshwater Pond build and he used to swim in it all the time. There was a-hole neighbor who has a young son that used to hit my dog. Eventually my dog snapped at him and bit him. He deserved it LOL. We were sued and the insurance company made a payoff. The kid deserved to get bitten.

Rip lived a good long life and was my best friend growing up. He was extremely intelligent and could do a ton of tricks. Every boy should have a dog growing up.

I had another dog name Lucy and that is an entire story in itself.

Thanks for the post and bringing back some really nice memories.

Howling at the moon and mal ad osteo.

I'm a cat person and I so adore my Siamese, Courtney. She is a rescue kitty and Queen of the house. She owns me, actually
