* Drama Queens ~
Any exaggeratedly dramatic person, especially female or a gay man.
Personal problems, usually self-created, and generally reflective of a mentally unhealthy person.
Conflicts and disappointments are natural side effects of the human experience, but for a certain personality type known as a "Drama Queen", life's little setbacks can trigger explosive emotional outbursts and other irrational behaviors.
A "Drama Queen" often views the world in absolutes, and only has two settings on her emotional control button: zero and ten.
While a "Drama Queen" might find her forceful personality and manipulation skills useful in a few situations, her inability to control her emotions and to form meaningful relationships could keep her socially isolated.

* Trauma To Drama ~
What drives the drama?
Childhood trauma might be a trigger in some cases.
Childhood neglect could also be a factor, experts in the field believe.
Genes could contribute as well.
Many parents find themselves in the unenviable position of dealing with a young Drama Queen.
A young Drama Queen's worst fear is to be ignored, or become powerless over others. Bᴇsᴛ ᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ Facebook ɪs: Iᴛ ᴡɪʟʟ ᴜʟᴛɪᴍᴀᴛᴇʟʏ ᴋɪʟʟ ᴛʜᴇ ᴇɴᴛɪʀᴇ ʜɪɢʜ sᴄʜᴏᴏʟ ʀᴇᴜɴɪᴏɴ ɪɴᴅᴜsᴛʀʏ ·

* Altered Circuitry ~
Whatever the roots of their personality, the brains of Drama Queens seem to be constructed differently from those of calmer people.
In 2007, psychiatrist Emily Stern and her colleagues at Weill Cornell Medical College used functional magnetic resonance imaging to measure the brain activity of 14 healthy individuals and 16 people with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) while they performed a task that required reacting to negative, positive and neutral words.
Scientists have begun to understand some of the causes of these destructive traits, which are difficult to change without professional help.
Nevertheless, if you are in a relationship with, or otherwise connected to, a Drama Queen, a few simple tactics can help you avoid being sucked into her spinning world of emotion. Bᴇsᴛ ᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ Facebook ɪs: Iᴛ ᴡɪʟʟ ᴜʟᴛɪᴍᴀᴛᴇʟʏ ᴋɪʟʟ ᴛʜᴇ ᴇɴᴛɪʀᴇ ʜɪɢʜ sᴄʜᴏᴏʟ ʀᴇᴜɴɪᴏɴ ɪɴᴅᴜsᴛʀʏ ·

* In Adult Life ~
Being considered a Drama Queen is generally not a good thing.
Living or working with a Drama Queen can be draining and disturbing.
Some Drama Queens are violent toward others, cut themselves or threaten suicide. The extreme behavior can lead to depression or anxiety in family members and colleagues. Bᴇsᴛ ᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ Facebook ɪs: Iᴛ ᴡɪʟʟ ᴜʟᴛɪᴍᴀᴛᴇʟʏ ᴋɪʟʟ ᴛʜᴇ ᴇɴᴛɪʀᴇ ʜɪɢʜ sᴄʜᴏᴏʟ ʀᴇᴜɴɪᴏɴ ɪɴᴅᴜsᴛʀʏ ·

* In Literature ~
The character, Scarlett O'Hara, from Margaret Mitchell's, "Gone With The Wind", would be considered a Drama Queen by today's standards.
A Drama Queen is notoriously self-centered and self-absorbed, often viewing friends and relatives as lesser beings assigned to take care of her personal needs.
A Drama Queen's worst enemy is solitude, so she tends to be very outgoing and sociable, although many of her friendships tend to remain at surface level.
Others who have experienced the Drama Queen's sudden outbursts in the past may have a feeling of walking on egg shells around her, not wanting to be the person who delivers upsetting news or offends the Drama Queen in any way. * Dangerous Liaisons ~
A Drama Queen could also be described as a "Diva", a neurotic and self-centered perfectionist prone to sudden demands and outbursts. However, a Diva is also usually considered to be exceptionally talented, which is not always the case with a Drama Queen.
A Drama Queen may be jealous or envious of others, which could make any personal failings even more painful and trigger another round of emotional outbursts or irrational thoughts of revenge
In a Drama Queen's world, people can be either with her or against her ~ there are no stages in between. Bᴇsᴛ ᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ Facebook ɪs: Iᴛ ᴡɪʟʟ ᴜʟᴛɪᴍᴀᴛᴇʟʏ ᴋɪʟʟ ᴛʜᴇ ᴇɴᴛɪʀᴇ ʜɪɢʜ sᴄʜᴏᴏʟ ʀᴇᴜɴɪᴏɴ ɪɴᴅᴜsᴛʀʏ ·

* Online Drama Queens ~
Internet Drama Queens are girls who join any, and every, online dating Website (especially adult-oriented) to Post on their Blogs, Forums and Magazines, etc. They like to flirt with guys in the Chat Rooms, tell you how ugly they feel (to generate compliments and sympathy), act stupid and are usually very, very "spammy".
They even Post pictures of themselves and say how ugly they are (to generate compliments and sympathy).
A lot of Drama Queens are pretty good at Photoshop and all of that "editing" stuff (which is pretty much their only talent). There are also those Drama Queens who "know" a couple of famous people, and Post a lot of pictures of themselves with the famous person.
A funny thing about these people ~ Ever notice how most of their friends are guys .... and, their female friends are usually "just" like them? Drama Queens have hundreds of pictures of themselves on FaceBook, MySpace and/or Twitter. She thinks she's so pretty, but she's not.
* Signs Of A Drama Queen:
01. She's a rich bitch.
02. She's pampered by her Daddy and treated like a "Princess".
03. She constantly flirts with you; not because she's genuinely interested in you, but because she wants your attention.
04. She dresses and acts like a slut.
05. She's "Precious", an Attention Whore, a Diva and a Chat Room Troll/er.
06. She's a tease.
07. She's completely oblivious to the fact that she's a Drama queen because she is stupid.

* Borderline Personality Disorder ~
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), is a psychological condition marked by a prolonged disturbance of personality function, characterized by unusual variability and depth of moods.
The disorder typically involves an unusual degree of instability in mood and black-and-white thinking, or "splitting".
"Splitting" in BPD includes a switch between idealizing and demonizing others.
There is an ongoing debate among clinicians and patients worldwide about terminology and the use of the word borderline, and some have suggested that this disorder should be renamed.
`
* Signs and Symptoms ~
The primary features of BPD are unstable interpersonal relationships, affective distress, marked impulsivity, and unstable self-image.
Individuals with BPD tend to experience frequent, strong and long-lasting states of aversive tension, often triggered by perceived rejection, being alone or perceived failure. They may show lability (changeability) between anger and anxiety or between depression and anxiety and temperamental sensitivity to emotive stimuli.
The negative emotional states specific to BPD fall into four categories:
01. Destructive or self-destructive feelings;
02. Extreme feelings in general;
03. Feelings of fragmentation or lack of identity; and,
04. Feelings of victimization.
`
Individuals with BPD can be very sensitive to the way others treat them, reacting strongly to perceived criticism or hurtfulness.
Evidence suggests that individuals with BPD, while being high in intimacy, or novelty-seeking, can be hyper-alert to signs of rejection or devaluation and tend toward insecure, avoidant or ambivalent, or fearfully preoccupied patterns in relationships. They tend to view the world as generally dangerous and malevolent.
Some mental health professionals describe individuals with BPD as deliberately manipulative or difficult, but analysis and findings generally trace behaviors to inner pain and turmoil, powerlessness and defensive reactions, or limited coping and communication skills.
There has been limited research on family members' understanding of Borderline Personality Disorder and the extent of burden or negative emotion experienced or expressed by family members. Parents of individuals with BPD may show co-existing extremes of over-involvement and under-involvement.
Suicidal or self-harming behavior is one of the core diagnostic criteria and management of and recovery from this can be complex and challenging. The suicide rate is approximately 8% to 10%. Self-injury attempts are highly common among patients and may or may not be carried out with suicidal intent. Ongoing family interactions and associated vulnerabilities can lead to self-destructive behavior.
Stressful life events related to sexual abuse can be a particular trigger for suicide attempts by adolescents with a BPD diagnosis. Bᴇsᴛ ᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ Facebook ɪs: Iᴛ ᴡɪʟʟ ᴜʟᴛɪᴍᴀᴛᴇʟʏ ᴋɪʟʟ ᴛʜᴇ ᴇɴᴛɪʀᴇ ʜɪɢʜ sᴄʜᴏᴏʟ ʀᴇᴜɴɪᴏɴ ɪɴᴅᴜsᴛʀʏ ·

* Histrionic Personality Disorder ~
Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD) is defined by the American Psychiatric Association as a personality disorder characterized by a pattern of excessive emotionality and attention-seeking behavior, including an excessive need for approval and inappropriately seductive behavior, usually beginning in early adulthood.
These individuals are lively, very dramatic (hence the term, "Drama Queen"), vivacious, enthusiastic, and flirtatious. Histrionic Personality Disorder is one of the most common found in the United States and affects 69% of people, affecting more women than men by about a 6:1 ratio.
This disorder can easily be mistaken for immaturity, however a person with HPD does not simply grow out of this selfish state of being. You may perceive people with HPD to be very dependent, rude and demanding, shallow, and far from genuine. The concept of the HPD reflects a tendency to be self-dramatizing, attention-seeking, overly gregarious, seductive and manipulative, exhibitionistic, shallow, frivolous, liable, vain, and demanding.
These behaviors are overwhelming and can be difficult to deal with. People with HPD have a high need for attention (i.e., Aᴛᴛᴇɴᴛɪᴏɴ Wʜᴏʀᴇs), make loud and inappropriate appearances, exaggerate all of their behaviors and emotions, crave stimulation and usually make a big deal about nothing. However, you may find that someone with HPD can be charming, lively or funny in small doses. It is very important to realize that those who suffer from HPD often may seem completely confident and into themselves, but can easily be rejected from those around them which "may lead into depression and suicidal tendencies".
They may be inappropriately sexually provocative, express strong emotions with an impressionistic style, and be easily influenced by others. Associated features may include egocentrictism, self-indulgence, continuous longing for appreciation, and persistent manipulative behavior to achieve their own needs.
`
* Characteristics ~
People with HPD are usually able to function at a high level and can be successful socially and professionally.
They often fail to see their own personal situation realistically, instead tending to dramatize and exaggerate their difficulties. They may go through frequent job changes, as they become easily bored and have trouble dealing with frustration. Because they tend to crave novelty and excitement, they may place themselves in "risky" situations.
`
* Exhibitionist behavior.
* Constant seeking of reassurance or approval.
* Excessive dramatics with exaggerated displays of emotions, such as hugging someone they have just met or crying uncontrollably during a sad movie.
* Excessive sensitivity to criticism or disapproval.
* Proud of own personality, unwillingness to change and any change is viewed as a threat.
* Inappropriately seductive appearance or behavior.
* Somatic symptoms, and using these symptoms as a means of garnering attention.
* A need to be the center of attention.
* Low tolerance for frustration or delayed gratification.
* Rapidly shifting emotional states that may appear superficial or exaggerated to others.
* Tendency to believe that relationships are more intimate than they actually are.
* Making rash decisions.
* A limited or minimal capability of experiencing love.
`
The cause of this disorder is unknown, but childhood events such as deaths in the immediate family, illnesses within the immediate family which present constant anxiety, divorce of parents and genetics may be involved. HPD is more often diagnosed in women than men; men with some quite similar symptoms are often diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD).
Little research has been conducted to determine the biological sources, if any, of this disorder. Psychoanalytic theories incriminate authoritarian or distant attitudes by one (mainly mother) or both of the parents of these patients, or love based on expectations from the child that can never be fully met.
