John Lennon's "Happy Xmas" is based on traditional "Stewball" (check Peter, Paul & Mary's version).

Can't say I'd noticed in the past and can't say I've played either of these songs or artists in a long time, but with only so many variations of musical notes to make a melody, you're going to get near-misses now and then
