EDIT 10/26/23: Well, the gold status was mostly unused for this past year; things were more complicated than I'd anticipated. But finally most of the items on the "to do" list are crossed off, and I'm in the last stretch. I still don't have much time to log on often, but that should (I hope) change within the next month.
EDIT 12/2022: I need to update this, though, actually, most of what I wrote back when I first created my profile on here is all still accurate regarding my interests, etc. (I was 38 then).
I then got married (16 years), and a little over four months ago, very suddenly and without warning became a widow.
All of my steps towards exploring BDSM were "put in the freezer" when I married, as he had no interest. I still do have interest, and I'm not dead yet (as the saying goes). But - full disclosure: I'm still in the process of adjusting to this sudden life change.
I paid for gold status, but I will be leaving the Chicago area for about a month or so, to get away, get a break. So I'm happy to convo via messages, but any in-person meetings for coffee won't be possible until I return. And I may not feel much like having conversations, depending on the day.
So if any of this puts you off, well, I've given full disclosure.

I am a 56 year old female, blond hair (colored - natural color is brown), green eyes.
My interests include reading books (pretty much anything - even toothpaste tubes when I'm desperate); cats; computers; and exploring new things to do.
I enjoy traveling and exploring new places - though I tend to be a bit of a hermit in day to day life; picking out constellations; picnics by the lake; dining out (I don't cook - I can barely boil water); and foreign languages. Other interests include anything medieval and/or Ren; rollercoasters; and anything in, about, or related to Chicago - this is one of the best cities on earth and I love it dearly. And I LOVE boating!
As for music, I like a wide range: classic to current rock, classical (the "Moonlight Sonata" has to be one of the most magnificent pieces ever written), medieval/Renaissance, blues, folk, jazz, hip hop, rai, Middle Eastern, Southern slave music, show tunes, you name it. About the only kinds of music I don't like are country/western and gospel.
I am almost totally clueless about TV: other than CNN, MSNBC, and the local news, I hardly ever watch TV. So I'm hopelessly uninformed about TV shows/series such as sitcoms, have been for over ten years, and this doesn't bother me in the least!
On the flip side, I am a total B-movie addict. I just LOVE low budget, poorly plotted, weakly scripted, woodenly acted, laughably edited movies. If you're also a B-movie addict, so much the better! But if they just elicit shudders from you (as they do with most people), don't worry: I usually only indulge in one B-movie marathon a year :-)

Well, someone who is experienced in domination, obviously, otherwise what's the point of posting this? The dom would have to be willing to go slowly, since I'm new to this.
We'd need to be able to get along outside the bedroom, at a minimum. Having some common interests and shared viewpoints is necessary, otherwise it will be pretty hard to build a trust between us. Once that's established, we figure it out from there.
I prefer a single dom since I'm not ready to deal with the other emotional issues that can occur in open relationships - exploring the BDSM area for my first time is enough for me to deal with right now.
For the specific type of relationship I am seeking here, long term would be desirable: from a comfort and trust point of view, and from a learning and experience standpoint. For the same reasons, you should be a Chicago local, or live no more than about an hour away. On the other hand, if you're in town a LOT, I could consider that.
I am NOT looking for casual hookups. If you're in town for just a few nights, and won't be back in town again for several weeks (or not at all), please...contact someone else. I'm not a one night stand kind of gal, and I'm not looking to be a toy for someone just to keep them entertained for a night or two.
Looks are somewhat important: I try to take care of myself, and would appreciate if you take care of yourself. I'm not looking for any specific physical attributes, though: it's really all about personality and shared viewpoints/interests/beliefs.
